ART THERAPY
Nicky Carey is a qualified Art Therapist. He attained his Graduate Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy in 2013 from the Ikon Institute in Brisbane QLD. He then completed graduate certificates in Initiatic Art Therapy in 2015 and at Clayfield in 2017, through the Institute for Sensorimotor Art Therapy & School for Initiatic Art Therapy in Queensland. He is currently undertaking somatic Experiencing Professional Training through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.
Art therapy uses art media as a primary mode to allow expression without the use of words. The therapy also provides an insight and development through art making. It is suitable for people of all ages, for individuals or groups. Clients that use art therapy may have a varied range of difficulties, life challenges, or seek personal development. Individuals can gain a greater sense of self, improve relationships with others and come to terms with difficult emotions or overwhelming feelings.
Art Therapy uses creative processes of art making as a primary mode to allow expression without the use of words. It offers a non-verbal way for a person to be seen and heard. It is a safe way to express inner experiences, reconcile emotional conflict, foster self-awareness, and develop interpersonal skills & strategies for personal growth. Clients who use art therapy may have a varied range of difficulties and life challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, grief & loss. In the sessions we focus on inner experiences, feeling, perceptions and imagination.
